Kansas Chapter names 2017-18 Kansas Sierra Club Environmental Education Grant Recipients

The Kansas Chapter’s Education Grants Committee has named five great Kansas educators to receive grants of $1,000 each for the 2017-18 school year.

The awards are as follows:

Lisa Ball, Lawrence High School
Karisa Cowan, Hoisington Middle School
Josie Milligan, St. Agnes Catholic School
Denise Scribner, Eisenhower High School, Goddard, Kan.
Stephanie Stark, Erie-Galesburg High School

Thank you, committee members Gary Anderson, Don Kaiser, Janet Lhuillier, and Craig Lubow for thoughtfully reviewing the applications, also Dave Kirkbride and Elaine Giessel, for visiting schools and teachers to make these awards. Bob Sommer chairs the Education Grants Committee.

Now in its fifth year, the Kansas Chapter’s Environmental Education Grants program offers grants to K-12 teachers in accredited Kansas schools to educate students about the climate crisis and the societal impacts of environmental injustice.
